Green Tea Brewing Tips
Select a high quality green tea from the Carlisle Tea range. We stock green teas from China and Japan to tempt the novice as well as the connoisseur. Buddha’s Tears and Dragon Flower can be brewed directly into your glass
- Use a half a teaspoon of dry tea leaves per cup / person depending on your taste.
- Allow the water to go off the boil and cool for 2 minutes to 85°, due to the delicate nature of green tea. Pour the water into your tea making vessel and stir.
- Allow the tea to brew for only 1-2 minutes for Japanese teas and 2–3 minutes for Chinese and Indian green teas. If you brew your tea too long it will begin to taste bitter. The tea will appear pale and taste pleasantly soothing if it is brewed correctly.
- Green tea leaves may be used again for a delicious second brew by adding more water and allowing an additional minute for infusion. It is widely believed that the second brew produces the best flavour.
- Green tea is served without milk or sugar but honey may be added as a sweetener.
