Oolong Tea Brewing Tips
Carlisle Tea’s oolong is a traditional Chinese tea somewhere in between green and black in oxidation.
- Use one teaspoon of dry tea leaves per cup / person depending on your taste.
- Dark oolong teas are best brewed with water that has gone off the boil. Water that has boiled for too long will adversely affect the taste. Green oolong tea should be prepared with water that has been allowed to cool for 2 minutes to 85° after coming to the boil.
- Allow green oolong tea to brew for 2 - 3 minutes and Dark Oolong for 3 - 5 minutes. If you brew your tea too long it will begin to taste bitter.
- Remove the infuser and leaves from the tea before serving.
- Oolong tea leaves may be used again for a delicious second brew by adding more water and allowing an additional minute for infusion. It is widely believed that the second brew produces the best flavor.
- Oolong tea is served without milk or sugar but honey may be added as a sweetener.
