Green Tea Brewing Tips

Select a high quality green tea from the Carlisle Tea range. We stock a range of fine green teas from China and Japan, to tempt every tea connoisseur. Buddha’s Tears and Dragon Flower teas may be brewed directly into your glass, for a beautiful effect.

  1. Use a half a teaspoon of dry tea leaves per cup / person, depending on your taste.
  2. Due to the delicate nature of green tea, allow the water to go off the boil and cool for 2 minutes to 85°. Pour the water into your tea making vessel and stir.
  3. Allow the tea to brew for only 1-2 minutes for Japanese teas and 2–3 minutes for Chinese and Indian green teas. If you brew too long, your tea will begin to taste bitter. Your tea will appear pale and taste pleasantly soothing, if it is brewed correctly.
  4. Green tea leaves may be refreshed again for a delicious second brew. Simply add more water, and allow an additional minute for infusion. It is widely believed that the second brew produces the best flavour.
  5. Green tea is served without milk or sugar, but honey may be added as a sweetener.
